Observing a sunset at Somapura Mahavihara is an incredibly memorable experience. As the sun slowly sinks to earth, a rainbow of colours fills the sky. You can watch this stunning scene from the top of the main temple or from a distance, with the monastery and temple buildings in the frame.

The best hours to observe the sunset are from 16:30 – 17:30 in winter and 17:30 - 18:30 in summer. The monastery complex stays open until just after sunset to give you time to see it before you need to leave.
