A Ruhr Museum audio guide

While there are plenty of displays throughout the Ruhr Museum, there’s only so much that can be printed on a sign. To learn even more about the things you’re seeing, you can use an audio guide for the ‘Nature, Culture and History of the Ruhr Area’ exhibition.
The audio guide offers additional information at 88 stations on three exhibition floors. It covers the whole breadth of the integrative exhibition concept that showcases the entire history of the Ruhr Area, from the formation of coal 300 million years ago to the current structural change towards the Ruhr Metropolis.
Following the former track taken by the coal, the audio guide will take you from top to bottom. You’ll see a multimedia display that presents the partly-contradictory characteristics, ideas and phenomena of the Ruhr Area. Then discover the pre-industrial ‘memory’ of the Ruhr Area, before coming to the exhibition about the industrialisation over the past 200 years.
The museum and audio guide tour finishes with an epilogue that takes stock of the current situation and looks to the future of the region.
