ROMAN ROUTE
This route lets us discover the exciting history of Tarraco, the
first Roman city founded outside the Italian peninsula, and the
base settlement for the conquest of Hispania. We will explore
the Roman remains that still shape the city, from the major
monuments of the upper city to the spectacular site of the
Necropolis next to the River Francolí. On our tour, which
includes a visit to sites on the outskirts of the city, we will
travel through eight centuries of Roman history, and see a
large part of the original layout of the Roman city, which was
once the capital of the Empire's largest province.

MEDIEVAL ROUTE
From the Cathedral, built on the Roman acropolis, to the
church of Santa Maria del Miracle, set into the former
amphitheatre, medieval Tarragona was constructed on the
remains of Roman Tarraco, and we can still feel its presence in
its picturesque little streets. As you follow this route, soak up
the atmosphere of the medieval city, with churches, castles
and towers where art, legend and history meet.

ART NOUVEAU AND MODERN ROUTE
The Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th and early 20th
centuries was embraced everywhere in Catalonia, where it
was known as Modernisme, and it left an impressive legacy in
the city of Tarragona. Its streets are dotted with buildings rich
in poetry and symbolism, surprising us with the curves,
colours and unusual shapes of Catalan Art Nouveau on this
route, which descends from the higher part of the city to the
port area.
