Since its reopening in 2001, and the conclusion of its complete restoration in 2005, the Pfingstberg in Potsdam has awakened from a long period of slumber. Each year, thousands of visitors come for celebrations, parties, weddings, receptions, and cultural events.

Belvedere on the Pfingstberg

Frederick William IV built Belvedere on the Pfingstberg between 1847 and 1863 according to his own plans and to utilise the beautiful view. Many of the architectural ideas came from his journey to Rome in 1829.

Frederick William IV used Roman buildings as his inspiration for this breathtaking complex with magnificent views. Today, the building is used regularly for concerts in front of the castle.

Pfingstberg has been crowned with one of the most beautiful examples of 19th century stately construction: the Belvedere. Operated by the Förderverein Pfingstberg e.V., it is one of the Potsdam’s most popular destinations today, and still offers one of the most marvelous views of the city. It is also available to the public for diverse cultural uses as well as private occasions, social events. and receptions.

The Belvedere was successfully restored and returned to its former splendour thanks to the generous support of the Hermann Reemtsma Stiftung, Dr. Werner Otto, founder of the mail-order company, and other sponsors.
