Boating in Royal North Sealand

Boating is, and has always been, a favourite activity for royals all over Europe – and Denmark is no different.
A boat trip on Lake Arresø takes about an hour, into a world where peace and tranquillity are the hallmarks, only disturbed by herons, marsh harriers and proud ospreys circling the lake. The many species of ducks and fish and the abundance of small bird species are all part of life on the lake.
You can also sail from the Royal Chalup-house by Fredensborg Palace over the serene waters of Lake Esrum to the Kings’ or Queens’ Forest in the UNESCO World Heritage Gribskov Forest. The trip takes about 20 minutes and on warm summer weekends the lake comes alive with small boats cruise at a leisurely pace.
From mid-May to mid-September, the Little Ferry sails the Frederiksborg Castle Lake and seats up to 30 people. It takes you from the town centre, to the rose garden, to the baroque garden, and back to the town centre.
Or you can cruise along the Danish Riviera aboard the M/S Pernille. The cruise takes you around the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kronborg Castle and into either the Sound or Kattegat. From the cosy comforts of your seat on the deck, you can enjoy a luxury meal and feast your eyes on the beautiful Danish coast with small fishing villages.
