Cycling routes

To experience the agricultural landscape of the Stari Grad Plain, it helps to get up close. One of the best ways to do this is on one of the cycling tracks that take you through the World Heritage Site.

There are a few paths to choose from and they go between small villages, past archaeological sites, through colourful fields and to amazing viewpoints. Along the way, you’ll find places to stop for food and drink and there should be opportunities to chat with some of the local farmers.

In addition to the cycling routes through the ancient farmlands on the Stari Grad Plain, there are other routes to explore.

The Kabal Route is a wonderful way to experience some of the flora and fauna of the region and the 22 kilometre trail stretches across the whole length of the Kabal Peninsula through a protected ecological zone.

There is also the Purka Route with leads to St Nicholas, the highest peak of the island at 628 metres above sea level. The whole trail is 23 kilometres long and is a demanding ride but worth it for the incredible views at the top.
