It’s not just the land around Stari Grad Plain that offers opportunities for lovers of nature – there’s also the sea. For divers, there are plenty of places to explore the underwater wonders.

The Kabal Peninsula on the eastern part of Stari Grad Bay has a lot of flora and fauna, particularly dreamfish. One of the most interesting parts is a 25 metre-long tunnel underneath the lighthouse at the peak of the promontory.

The Smočiguzica promontory is another popular area for diving. Here you should be able to find a steep rock wall off the coast full of holes with conger eel, spiny lobster and groupers inside. From the peak of this cliff, you can also look out into the sea abyss.

Other areas along the coast that are great for diving include Tatinja Cove, Vela Garska, and Poseidon Pile. At a spot called The Wreck, there’s an English trading ship called the Paulina that was sunk about 150 years ago.

With the pristine sea, clean beaches, hidden coves and small islands, this part of Croatia is becoming a very popular diving spot so there are plenty of dive centres on Hvar island to help you with whatever you need.
