Not only will you find delicious food in Tarragona, but many of the restaurants are connected to Ancient Roman ruins.

The historic centre of Tarragona is built on top of three Tarraco terraces at different levels: the Circus, the Provincial Forum, and the temple. When it’s time to find somewhere to eat, you’ll discover that many of the restaurants are closely integrated with ruins of these ruins from these terraces.

For example, from the Pulvinar pizza restaurant, you can see the long Roman wall built following the opus quadratum building process, which still preserves part of the original cornice.

Other great dining options include Els Arcs restaurant, which is recommended by Michelin guideline, and is a building from the Middle Ages that still preserves eight Gothic vaults. At Seasons, you’ll find the interior still has part of the perimeter vault of the great Forum. And AQ restaurant, one of the most sublime cuisines in the city, is located on the inside of the Provincial Forum cult enclosure.

You may also want to try Barhaus restaurant which, although its decoration is influenced by the 20th century German art school, still preserves a 1st century ashlar wall of the Provincial Forum in one of the dining rooms.
