Enjoy the illumination of the aqueduct

Take a moment for quiet reflection as lights bring the Pont du Gard to life once night falls.

If you visit Pont du Gard early on a summer evening, you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and quiet of the place. There are fewer people, the heat is less oppressive and the sounds of the natural world become more audible. Indulge in a moment of peaceful reflection.

At this time of day, you can relax in the beach gazebos or on the restaurant terrace, under the one-hundred-year-old plane trees, and watch the fading light of the sun cast gentle shadows against the golden stones of the majestic old structure.

Gradually, darkness gives way to a subtle illumination of the monument. The structure cloaks itself in a thousand colours, revealing the complexity of its sculpted elements, the beauty of its curves and its imposing verticality!

The intensity of the lighting and colours changes with each sequence, highlighting the contrast between the monument and its surroundings. The flickering lights and colours are reflected in the river, in a succession of magnificent scenes.

The illumination of the monument is a gentle, poetic and subtle experience, and a great way to enjoy a balmy summer night at the Pont du Gard.
