Guided Mine tours

As one of the most important mines in Europe, Rammelsberg has been shaping the lives of people in the region for centuries. It is now a fully-preserved industrial complex that you can experience on various tours.
One tour is 'Medieval Adventure: The Ratstiefste Gallery'. This part of the mine is one of the oldest tunnels in Germany, dug out by hammer and pick. Total darkness, dripping water, with the glimmer of light from the human work. You'll go along almost on your knees to workplaces that were given up 350 years ago. The tour lasts four hours.
The 'Mining in the 20th Century: With the Mine Train on Side' tour takes one hour, with a winding and creaking mine train going deep into the mountain to the 100 year old Richtschacht. Here the original mining and winding engines, which worked in the Rammelsberg, are shown in action.
With the 'Fire and Water: The Roeder Gallery' tour, you will embark on a journey through time to the 200-year-old system of art and sweeping wheels on the Rammelsberg. As you walk through the underground world full of secrets, you will see coloured minerals, experience darkness and light, and discover the skills of the miners.
