The thunder from pounding hooves echoed through the par force hunting landscape in the 17th century. Back then horses were a vital part of the royal hunts, and they needed to move quickly and swiftly through the forest. By building the many rides, the King conquered nature and created a landscape ideal for hunting par force.

You can make the most of these rides today by exploring them on horse. The World Heritage Site is state owned and open to the public all year round. There are four different routes giving you the possibility to plan a horseback ride that suits you.

The routes are designed by local riders who know the area like the back of their hand, and they have handpicked some of the best and most beautiful paths in the forest to ride on. The interactive maps also show you places to sleep, rest and eat. You can bring your own horse or rent one for your trip.
