Palace balls and cultural events

There is a wide range of events held at Versailles during the year which let you connect with the rich cultural heritage.

As a political monarch, King Louis XIV took “grand entertainment” to the height of magnificence, making Versailles a venue for monumental, extraordinary and fantastical parties and shows.

This environment, shaped by the arts, lay at the heart of the most sumptuous festivals and celebrations. Magnificent equestrian and nautical shows, banquets, plays, operas, ballets and fireworks followed each other in rapid succession.

Fast forward to today and the Palace of Versailles continues to be faithful to its history. It is still the setting for a widely-varied cultural life and series of events. Leading international performers bring the most beautiful locations of the palace and garden to life with both classic and modern works.

You are now able to take part and enjoy this entertainment yourself. Tickets are available to the public for performances and cultural events all year round.
