Sannio Tattoo Festival

This fun festival at the end of July brings together two European cultures for a large celebration in a small village.

Scotland and the region of Sannio come together at this Tattoo Festival, an event inspired by the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

It was started by a community of British people who bought houses in the historic centre, attracted by the local landscape, food and wine. They wanted to create an event that could combine their heritage with the local traditions so the two cultures could grow together.

At the Sannio Tattoo Festival, the military bands, bagpipe players and Scottish and local dancers meet to sing and dance in a tangle of culture and music. Together they create an evocative event set in Sannio's authentic medieval village.
