With its long and proud history, Nessebar is a city worth celebrating at any time of the year. But each August, the residents come together for an official celebration of their home. And if you are here on that day, there is plenty to experience.

The Day of Nessebar takes place every year on August 15. The whole city has a festive atmosphere and is full of events being held at many different venues. Don’t be surprised if you stumble across a small concert, sports match or quiz.

Larger concerts and events take place on the fortress walls and the amphitheatre’s stage in the evening. But the main event is the midnight fireworks and light show, full of spectacular 3D-mapping technology.

However, for the people of Nessebar, August 15 is not just a day for parties. It is also an important spiritual experience to honour the patron of the city – the Holy Mother. It can be quite an emotional and spiritual event for residents and visitors alike.
