The GeoExploration Room

The GeoExploration Room is an integrated part of the Mineralogical Exposition of the Slovak Mining Museum. Here you can explore the Periodic Table with minerals of chemical elements. There are fluorescent minerals glowing under UV lamp, poisonous minerals, 3D pairs with real stones, and a screen with relief maps of mining regions. There is also an underground, backlit map of the Banská Štiavnica-Hodruša mining region, and a 3D screen with geological educational films.
In the GeoExploration Room you can try your hand at defining minerals by easy methods of mineralogical research, like detection of their thickness, firmness or scratch. You can also try various experiments with minerals under a microscope.
You can search for minerals in the GeoClub, which is located in a quartz quarry. A part of the quarry is used for mineralogical excursions, experience education and adrenaline sports. You can also mine underground and search for sceptre quartz and other interesting minerals.
