The Hubertus Hunt
The Hubertus Hunt has been held almost every single year since 1900 in Jægersborg Deer Park as a traditional recreation of the par force hunt. Although it was once a real hunt, these days it is more of a demonstration race and the horses are the only animals involved. The traditional fox and stag have been replaced by a set course and a leading rider wearing a fox tail.
Almost 200 riders and their horses join the impressive hunt display at the Ermitage Hunting Lodge, where the highlight for many is the jump at the Magasindammen pond.
The spectacular celebration, impressive horsemanship, and formidable uniforms draw in crowds from near and far as the hunt gives a glimpse into the bygone time when the king and his riders would hunt par force on these grounds.
At least one member of the royal family still normally attends the spectacle and watches from the Ermitage Hunting Lodge, before presenting the prize to the winner of the hunt.
