Visit the Pont du Gard Museum
The museum, with its contemporary-style architecture, discretely located just a stone's throw from the aqueduct, is sure to trigger your curiosity as well as answer many of your questions.
In which century was the Pont du Gard built?
Who built it?
How long did it take to build?
What makes it so sturdy?
This vast 2,500 m² multimedia space, with its life-size reconstructions and virtual environments, will transport you more than 2,000 years back in time. Follow the river back in time to the days of ancient Rome and discover a whole new universe - a spectacle that you can enjoy on the museum's multiple screens.
The centrepiece of the museum is devoted to the construction of the Pont du Gard, which combines artistry and technical skills. The life-size reconstruction of the quarries, canal, and two of the third tier arches, exhibited alongside plans, technical information and observations, are the most spectacular part of this themed display area.
