For ten days, the region comes alive with a huge programme of cultural events.

The largest cultural event in Tokaj-Hegyalja is the Zemplen Festival, which has been held annually since 1992. It offers a wide variety of cultural performances and events.

Beautiful archaeological and outdoor venues are the settings for prestigious classical concerts, theatrical and dance performances, jazz evenings, excursions and exhibitions.

In connection with the productions of internationally renowned guest artists and ensembles, the participating settlements also have the opportunity to show their traditions and customs. Cultural events include typical dishes of the countryside, and gastronomic programmes featuring famous Tokaj wines.

The most prestigious summer cultural event in the Tokaj wine region is open for 10 days every August, with more than 30 locations in 20 of Zemplén's villages or cities.
