Zollverein Ice Rink

As the cold weather hits, Zollverein becomes a winter wonderland for the whole family.

From early December to early January, the impressive coke ovens, rusty red pipes and tall chimneys of the Zollverein Coking Plant become the backdrop to a lively ice rink. You can put on some skates and hit the ice yourself at one of the most interesting rinks you’ll ever find.

Around the ice rink, a small winter village creates a festive atmosphere. Skaters can enjoy hot drinks and snacks from the decorated stalls. At night, the industrial architecture shines in red and blue lights for a magical setting.

Right next to the rink is a 180-square-metre area for curling where groups, families and friends can challenge each other in a sporting competition. And, if you feel like a bit of a party, there are two Saturday nights when Zollverein gets disco fever and retro songs from the past three decades are played while you skate.
