Zorn Museum

The Zorn Museum is one of Sweden’s most established and well-known art museums. Visitors will find virtuoso depictions of water, genre scenes from Dalarna, nude studies, refined portraits, and an inside look at the life of artist Anders Zorn.

This beautiful museum holds the finest collection in the world of works by Sweden’s master painter, Anders Zorn (1860-1920). The boy from Mora became a painter of international standing.

Located next to the museum lies Zorngården, the home of the artist and his wife, Emma. The interior is infused with art and artifacts from near and far, all mixed in rooms decorated by Zorn himself. Guided tours lead you a hundred years back in time.

Make sure to feel the experience of stepping straight into a Zorn painting at Gopsmor cottage, situated near the clear waters of Österdal River. It was here that the artist withdrew in order to live a humble farm life, just like his ancestors in past times. It was also at Gopsmor that Zorn painted some of his most famous works. Gopsmor is located near Garberg (Älvdalen municipality), 20 kilometres north of Mora along Road 70. A guide can show you the large cottage and Zorn’s studio.

Tours take approximately 45 minutes. There is a maximum of 15 people per tour. Please book in advance. Tours are conducted in Swedish and English upon request.

There are many public parking places on Vasagatan opposite the museum. The museum is currently adapted to facilitate visitors in wheelchairs or with functional impairment. Entrance can normally take place through the main entry. When necessary, Zorn Museum can provide a wheelchair.
