Eco-museum of the Bay

Close to the southern tip of the Grouin du Sud, the Ecomusée de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel offers a permanent exhibition entitled "Les hommes, la nature et les paysages de la Baie" (Men, nature and landscapes of the Bay) to understand everything about this bay, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The visit, enhanced with films, models and interactive kiosks, takes you back in time to understand the history of the Bay's landscapes. You follow the life of several "star" animals through the seasons and observe the fascinating, complex but fragile environment.
You will discover past human activities such as the manufacture of fire salt, which disappeared in the mid-19th century, and fishing on foot, which is still practised today. Numerous activities are held every year: every Wednesday during school holidays (except Christmas), the ecomuseum offers salt production workshops and revives its salt works.
The ecomuseum is also a starting point for hiking to the Grouin du Sud and the village of Saint-Léonard with its priory.
